We didn’t always have dollar bills, bill cases, wallets. What did people do before? When they had gold and silver coins? Well, 140 year ago some very wealthy aristocrat carried around this sterling silver sovereign case to house his gold coins. With its compact design this case could be kept close to his pocket watch, usually on the pocket watch chain.

This case in particular was created in 1876 by the Munsull and Latimer company out of silver. Each part that comprises it is stamped to denote the year it was made and the quality of the materials.
