Founded in 1912 in Switzerland, Fortis has a rich history. It’s earliest movements were built by James Harwood, inventor of the self-winding automatic wristwatch. Like Omega, Fortis watches have also seen service in space. They bear the honor of being the first watch ever worn during an EVA (extra-vehicular activity) outside of a spacecraft. They are the exclusive supplier for the Russian Federal Space Agency.
This model 597.11.141 is referred to as a ‘Flieger chronograph’, a modern version of vintage pilot watches. These feature a robust, tool like design with high visibility dials and generous lume. Fortis has a history of flight watches having supplied military watches to Germany, Switzerland, Greece, and Hungary.
This watch has been serviced by our watch maker – including a movement regulation, water test and case and bracelet restoration. We provide a 1 year warranty on the movement. It comes with Case, Box and instructions.
